When it comes to flower gardening, there are two types of flower you can grow.  One type is the Perennials and the type is Annuals.  The difference between the two is that perennials will last for many years, while annuals will only last for a year and will need to be replanted the following year.  You can grow both types of flower in the garden, but in this article, it will be about perennials.

Perennials flowers are strong plants that will flower all year round.  There are many varieties of perennials to choose from.  They range in different colors, shapes, and sizes.  For most of the varieties, the entire plant will die when the cold season approaches, and once the warmer weather arrives, there will be a totally new plant growing in its place.

Before planting perennials in the garden, there are a few things to consider.  One of the main considerations is the amount of drainage you have in the garden.  Many of the perennials have a hard time surviving in gardens that are water logged.  If you have such a garden, you can still grow them by using a raised bed.  Before using one, try to test your garden for drainage first.  Simply dig a small hole in the ground and fill it with water.  After a day, refill the hole again and wait at least 24 hours  before checking it.  If there are still some water left in there, then you will need to get a raised bed for your perennials.

Another thing to consider is what varieties of perennial you will be growing in the garden.  Some perennials will bloom early in the spring, while others will bloom late in the summer.  By figuring out when they will bloom, you can locate them in the right place to give your whole garden a nice look overall.

Perennials will make any garden more beautiful, but you will need to take proper care for them.  Try to learn as much about them each one and what its need are.  You will know when they are properly cared for when everyone give you a compliment on your flower garden.
